Store Driver
About The Position
The Store Driver picks, stages, and safely delivers automotive parts to professional customers, and picks up returns and cores. The role also supports sales and store operations by distributing sales flyers, collecting payments from credit accounts, maintaining customer relationships, assisting with product recommendations, and keeping the store clean and stocked. The driver may also assist walk-in customers and perform other duties as assigned. The position requires safe driving and navigation, effective customer communication, sales aptitude, and the ability to use delivery and inventory systems and store equipment. The employee works primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor work and exposure to weather and other workplace hazards. Physical duties include frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to drive safely and navigate effectively.
- Ability to use a delivery board system, inventory systems, and store equipment.
- Ability to locate and stock parts, with safety knowledge and skills.
- Friendly and persuasive communication, including the ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with customers, peers, and leadership.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use basic math accurately, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- Confidence engaging customers and promoting products, and willingness to learn about new products and sales techniques.
- Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including frequent lifting or moving of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting or moving of up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Nice To Haves
- Automotive parts experience is preferred.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Pick, stage, and safely deliver parts to professional customers.
- Pick up returns and cores.
- Drop off weekly or monthly sales flyers while promoting current sales and loyalty programs.
- Collect payments from credit accounts daily.
- Build and maintain relationships with MainStreet and National Pro customers and share delivery-related insights with the CPP.
- Assist in upselling and cross-selling products to increase average transaction value.
- Maintain store cleanliness, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and the parking lot.
- Perform general stocking, including truck stocking, back stock, and cycle counts.
- Maintain knowledge of product inventory and new arrivals to assist with sales.
- Engage with walk-in customers to understand their needs and recommend appropriate parts or services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
