About The Position

The Store Clerk reports directly to the Store Manager and indirectly to the Assistant Store Managers and Shift Leaders. The role handles cashiering, stocking, cleaning, monitoring perishables, and providing excellent customer service while helping maintain daily store conditions. All duties must be performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.

The position requires working in freezers, coolers, refrigerators, inside and outside the store in all weather conditions, and inside delivery trucks. Team members must follow safety standards and the uniform dress code. Duties may vary by department or location, and employees must comply with company policy and applicable laws.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Have basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and basic computer skills.
• Be dependable and flexible to work scheduled shifts, including willingness to work in other store areas as needed with little or no advance notice.
• Adhere to safety standards and the uniform dress code.
• Be able to reach, bend, balance, lift, and transport objects weighing 20–50 pounds repeatedly during a shift; product may sometimes weigh 50–80 pounds.
• Be able to stand, walk, and/or move about for extended periods.
• Be able to push, pull, grasp, twist, and use sawing motions for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proven, efficient retail sales experience preferred.
• Experience in dry grocery, perishable products, meat, general grocery, cash management, and excellent customer service preferred.
• Excellent teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate a cash register efficiently and meet checkout performance standards, including transaction speed and accurate handling of cash, EBT, debit and credit cards, WIC vouchers, gift cards, coupons, and checks.
• Follow checkout and cash-handling procedures and policies.
• Handle, stock, and maintain grocery, frozen, dairy, smoked meat, and other perishable products according to standards.
• Assist with unloading delivery trucks.
• Stock products on platforms, shelving, peg hooks, in baskets, and in refrigerated cases as needed.
• Use power and non-powered equipment and hand tools to move stock after proper training.
• Retrieve carts from the parking lot.
• Maintain excellent store conditions and a safe, clean working environment.
• Complete assigned cleaning duties, including floors, windows, display cases, shelves, register areas, backrooms, restrooms, parking lots, and other fixtures.
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate in a friendly, courteous manner.
• Assist store management with training other store team members.
• Maintain proper rotation of dated and undated products.
• Ensure products have price tags or signs and are displayed according to company guidelines.
• Protect company property, funds, and merchandise.
• Properly display, trim, package, and fill authorized fresh produce.
• Assist fresh meat personnel as needed.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other areas of the store.
