About The Position

This position receives, sorts, and prepares donated items for display in the store, determines whether items are suitable under established standards, and helps maintain the warehouse area's order and cleanliness. The employee also assumes Store Clerk responsibilities as needed. The role includes sorting and tagging donations, moving items for processing or display, assisting store customers with purchases and donations, and keeping displays neat and orderly.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of cashiering experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge of effective customer service techniques.
Knowledge of basic mathematics principles and practices.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Physical ability to lift, carry, and/or push or pull light objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Moderate mobility, including frequently changing between sitting, standing, and walking.

Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, and sort donated clothing, shoes, household items, bric-a-brac, and other items by category and condition.
Tag items with specially coded tickets and/or prices according to established procedures.
Prepare unsuitable clothing for the baler.
Lift and carry items to the appropriate destination for processing, storage, or store display.
Assist customers with purchases by ringing up sales using a cash register, collecting payment, counting change, preparing receipts, and packaging purchases.
Assist customers donating items and direct them to the appropriate loading or unloading area.
Place and arrange items in the store as directed, and check displays to ensure items are neat and orderly.
Help maintain order and cleanliness in the warehouse area.
Assume Store Clerk responsibilities as needed.
