Store Clerk & Sorting Room Worker
About The Position
This position combines store clerk and sorting room duties at The Salvation Army thrift store. The Store Clerk function may include a regular shift as part of the daily workload. The role assists customers with donating, selecting, and purchasing items; operates and maintains a cash register; answers customer questions; keeps store displays clean and orderly; and helps secure store merchandise and the register. The Sorting Room function involves receiving donated products, sorting and pricing items, and preparing them for display. The worker determines whether items are suitable for sale and sets prices according to established standards, helps maintain store cleanliness and order, and runs the register and assists customers as needed. The position is part-time, scheduled for 28 hours per week, at $9.44 per hour. The listed location is the PMC-Chapmanville, WV Thrift Store in Chapmanville, WV.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
- Ability to walk, stand, lift, and carry light objects weighing less than 25 pounds frequently.
- Willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of The Salvation Army.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a retail store is preferred.
Responsibilities
