About The Position

The Store Cleaning Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized TJ Maxx store environment, with a focus on floor care. The role includes operating floor-cleaning equipment and cleaning floors, glass, and windows. Associates also maintain cleanliness, organization, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the sales floor, queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.

The position is cross-trained in multiple store areas to support business needs, including the backroom, front end, and sales floor. The associate supports customer experience practices, store recovery, safety awareness, merchandising and signage standards, and operational and loss-prevention controls. The role follows company policies and applicable labor requirements and includes other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Maintain floor-care cleanliness standards, including operating and maintaining the scrubber and buffer.
• Dust mop, damp mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, and spot-clean glass and windows.
• Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the sales floor, single queue, associate lounge, backroom, and restrooms.
• Refill essential items in the associate lounge, restrooms, and front end as part of health and safety practices.
• Cross-train and work in other store areas, including the backroom, front end, and sales floor.
• Support and respond to front-end coverage needs.
• Follow merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
• Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
• Follow operational and loss-prevention controls and company policies, including shrink-reduction practices.
• Communicate accurately and effectively with management and associates.
• Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including meal and break-period policies.
• Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
• Model established customer-experience practices and support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
