Store Cleaner (Janitor)
About The Position
The Store Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean and organized store environment, with a focus on floor care. The role operates floor-cleaning equipment and performs a range of cleaning and recovery tasks throughout the store, while following health and safety, operational, merchandising, and loss prevention standards. The position is cross-trained to support multiple store areas and business needs, including the Front End, Backroom, and Sales Floor. The Store Cleaner supports a positive customer and associate experience, communicates effectively with management and colleagues, and helps maintain a safe, organized environment. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to support business needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks and operate a floor buffer and scrubber.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including listening and responding appropriately.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work effectively with peers and supervisors.

Responsibilities
- Maintain floor-care cleanliness standards, including operating and maintaining the scrubber and buffer.
- Perform dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and spot cleaning of glass and windows.
- Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards throughout the store, including the Sales Floor, Single Queue, Associate Lounge, Backroom, and Restrooms.
- Follow company health and safety policies, including refilling essential items in the Lounge, Restrooms, and Front End.
- Cross-train and work in other store areas, including the Backroom, Front End, and Sales Floor.
- Support and respond to Front End coverage needs.
- Follow the company merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
- Initiate and participate in store recovery throughout the day as needed.
- Follow operational and loss prevention controls and company guidelines, including shrink-reduction practices.
- Communicate accurately and effectively with management and Associates.
- Follow labor laws and company policies and procedures, including Associate meal and break-period policies.
- Participate in safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
- Role-model customer experience practices with internal and external customers and support a positive store culture through honesty, integrity, and respect.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
