About The Position

The Store Associate assists store management with the daily operation of an assigned retail store and reports to the Store Manager, or to the Assistant Manager when the Manager is absent. The role involves helping customers, handling and stocking merchandise, operating the cash register when assigned, and maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe store. Associates may be cross-trained for other retail functions and perform additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions.
Basic mathematical skills.
Ability to communicate fluently in English, verbally and in writing.
Ability to answer the telephone.
Ability to use a cash register and calculator or 10-key.
Accuracy of work is essential.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
Ability to cooperate with store personnel, direct supervisors, and the Division Director.
Ability to serve customers effectively and professionally.
Ability to follow simple instructions and meet deadlines and respond to special needs.
Ability to perform some janitorial duties.

Nice To Haves

Customer service experience or understanding of working with the public is desirable.
Bilingual ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist customers and provide positive, professional, courteous service.
Stock and rotate merchandise.
Run the cash register when assigned, ensuring transaction accuracy and following company check and credit card procedures.
Report safety hazards and accidents to management immediately.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe store, including floor mopping and related tasks as assigned.
Assist with receiving and processing incoming merchandise.
Answer the telephone courteously.
Attend general store meetings as assigned and departmental and safety meetings as required.
Cross-train for other retail functions and perform assigned tasks to required standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
