About The Position

America’s National Parks is seeking a part-time Store Associate at Gulf Islands National Seashore in Pensacola Beach, Florida. America’s National Parks is a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, operating stores at more than 175 national park sites. The organization educates visitors about the history, landscapes, and cultures that have shaped America and supports parks through its aid-to-the-parks program. The Store Associate helps visitors select products, supports store operations and merchandising, and contributes to a welcoming retail environment. The role calls for an interest in national parks, history, and nature; a commitment to sharing knowledge with visitors; attention to detail; and an ability to work cooperatively while reflecting the organization’s values of Education, Service, Collaboration, Sharing, and Excellence.

Requirements

Interest in national parks, history, and nature, and a desire to promote and protect public lands.
Enjoy learning new things and sharing those learnings with others.
Carefully attend to details and take pride in maintaining an appealing retail space.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
Ability to maintain prompt and regular attendance.
Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others.
Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 35 pounds to a shelf height of 5 feet.
Ability to stand for long periods and to bend, squat, and reach.

Responsibilities

Operate the cash register, process appropriate tenders, and maintain accurate cash register records.
Restock the sales floor according to visual merchandising guidelines and help create visual displays.
Assist visitors with product selection and offer complementary products.
Navigate complex topics with sensitivity and respect.
Work as part of a team and interact effectively with others.
Open and close the store independently when required.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance and work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
