About The Position

America’s National Parks is seeking a part-time Store Associate at Gulf Islands National Seashore in Pensacola Beach, Florida. America’s National Parks is a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service, operating stores at more than 175 national park sites. Its purpose is to educate the public about the history, landscapes, and cultures that have shaped America through its products and visitor experiences, while supporting parks through its aid to the parks program. The Store Associate supports store operations by handling transactions, replenishing and displaying merchandise, and assisting visitors with product selection. The role calls for an interest in national parks, history, and nature; attention to detail; pride in maintaining an appealing retail space; and a commitment to the organization’s values of Education, Service, Collaboration, Sharing, and Excellence. The position includes a flexible schedule with weekend work, regular attendance, and possible independent store opening and closing duties.

Requirements

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
Prompt and regular attendance.
Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others.
Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 35 pounds to a shelf height of 5 feet; the work may also involve prolonged standing, bending, squatting, and reaching.
Interest in national parks, history, and nature, and willingness to learn and share knowledge with visitors.
Attention to detail and pride in maintaining an appealing retail space.

Responsibilities

Process customer tenders at the cash register and maintain accurate register records.
Restock the sales floor in accordance with visual merchandising guidelines and help create visual displays.
Assist visitors with product selection and suggest complementary products.
Navigate complex topics with sensitivity and respect.
Work collaboratively and interact effectively with others.
Maintain prompt and regular attendance and work a flexible schedule, including weekends.
May open and close the store independently.
