About The Position

The Stockroom Worker prepares, alters, and processes new or used garment inventories for delivery to customers. The role maintains inventory levels and records, receives new garments from vendors, and alerts supervision to problems such as back orders or incorrect items. The position also performs other production tasks as required. Work takes place in production areas of a typical industrial laundry facility, potentially around large machinery and in conditions with temperature variations, odors, humidity, lint, and dust. No travel or education is required.

Requirements

Recognize colors and sizes, and count and sort accurately.
Multitask with a high degree of accuracy.
Have adequate computer skills or the ability to learn.
Understand and follow written packing instructions or work orders.
Understand and follow written and verbal directions.

Responsibilities

Retrieve clean, finished garments from the rail storage system or receive new garments from vendors, and check vendor packing tickets or invoices for accuracy.
Identify and track shortages, back orders, and other problems, and notify supervision.
Inspect garments for quality; alter or mend them as needed by hand or with a sewing machine; then shelve them or put them into use.
Use a computer to prepare property-mark labels and apply them using label-sealing machinery or a sewing machine.
Prepare garments by route, customer, and individual user, then place them in route carts or bins for loading into delivery vehicles or a designated area, following written packing instructions or garment order forms.
Work at a pace that keeps up with garment flow and delivery-date requirements.
Place garment orders by computer, phone, or fax; maintain inventory levels; perform withdrawals and inventories; maintain records; and prepare reports or orders.
Continuously meet efficiency and safety standards.
Keep the work area neat and clean.
Follow written and verbal instructions and perform other tasks as directed by supervision.
Perform other production tasks as required.
