About The Position

The Stockroom Worker prepares, alters, and processes new or used garment inventories for customer delivery. The role maintains inventory levels and records, receives garments from vendors, and reports issues such as back orders or incorrect items to supervision. The worker prepares garments according to customer and route requirements and performs other production tasks as needed. Work takes place in production areas of an industrial laundry facility, around large machinery and conditions that may include temperature variations, odors, humidity, lint, and dust. No travel is required. Education is not specified as a requirement.

Requirements

Recognize colors and sizes and accurately count and sort.
Multitask with a high degree of accuracy.
Have adequate computer skills or the ability to learn.
Understand and follow written packing instructions or work orders.
Understand and follow written and verbal directions.

Responsibilities

Retrieve finished, clean garments from rail storage or receive new garments from vendors and check packing tickets or invoices for accuracy.
Identify and track shortages, back orders, and other problems, and notify supervision.
Inspect garments for quality and alter or mend them as needed by hand or using a sewing machine.
Shelve garments or put them into use, and prepare property-mark labels using a computer and label-sealing machinery or a sewing machine.
Prepare garments according to route, customer, and individual-user requirements, following written packing instructions or garment order forms; place them in route carts or bins for loading or in a designated area.
Work at a pace that meets garment flow and delivery-date requirements.
Place garment orders using a computer, phone, or fax; maintain inventory levels; perform withdrawals and inventories; maintain records; and prepare reports or orders.
Meet efficiency and safety standards and keep the work area neat and clean.
Follow written and verbal instructions and perform other tasks as directed by supervision.
Perform other production tasks as required.
