About The Position

Receives, stores, and maintains materials used to supply maintenance activities at assigned locations. Incumbents may be promoted to Stockroom Clerk II under the family of jobs agreement.

Requirements

Must possess or obtain a valid driver's license for driving Class D vehicles.
Must pass applicable tests and demonstrate the ability to perform the physical activities associated with the position.
Experience working in inventory control is required.
Must have a working knowledge of computerized inventory request and management systems.
Must know material ordering, handling, stocking, and issuing procedures common to the industry.
Must be able to perform basic arithmetic computations, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Must be able to operate material-handling equipment used throughout the systems, such as hand trucks, forklifts, cranes, hoists, and slings.
Must be able to understand written and oral instructions and prepare reports.
Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver materials weighing up to and including 100 pounds.
Must have good or correctable eyesight and the ability to distinguish colors.

Responsibilities

Inspect incoming materials to verify descriptions and quantities against available records.
Load and unload materials from vehicles.
Transport materials throughout maintenance shops, yards, and other storage areas, and between repair locations.
Operate hand trucks, forklifts, cranes, hoists, slings, vans, and other equipment to move materials.
Use computerized and manual inventory control systems to check availability and status and take appropriate action.
Order stock, non-stock, and stockless materials to meet maintenance requirements.
Ensure defective materials are properly tagged.
Participate in planning for seasonal or campaign-related material needs.
Clean stockroom areas and maintain locations according to guidelines.
Perform inventory counts.
Perform related duties as assigned.
