About The Position

A State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) works under the supervision and/or direction of an RN or LPN to assist nursing staff in treating residents and providing optimal, safe care. The role follows the established methods, policies, and procedures of Fisher-Titus Medical Center and Norwalk Memorial Home. This is a full-time day-shift position at Norwalk Memorial Home, with hours from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Requirements

Perform duties under the supervision and/or direction of an RN or LPN.
Follow the established methods, policies, and procedures of Fisher-Titus Medical Center and Norwalk Memorial Home.

Responsibilities

Prepare the unit, resident rooms, and beds for admissions or transfers.
Assist with and, as necessary, accompany residents during admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
Use the call-light system as necessary and promptly answer residents’ call lights.
Provide morning care, including bathing, changing linens, and dressing residents; provide evening and other general care as needed throughout the day.
Assist with restorative care and encourage residents to restore function and avoid deterioration where possible.
Accurately record vital signs, weight, height, intake and output, consumption, and other required documentation as directed.
Provide resident care including positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulating residents, using special equipment as needed.
Prepare residents for meals; distribute food trays, water, and nourishment; feed or assist residents to and from the dining room; and encourage intake as indicated.
Under supervision, perform general care activities for residents in precautionary situations.
Provide post-mortem care and make rounds on residents.
Practice universal precautions.
Encourage residents to attend prescribed therapies.
Handle and care for residents’ clothing and other personal property from admission through discharge.
Transport residents to and from various areas as needed.
Collect specimens and transport them to the proper area as needed.
