About The Position

The Natural Resources & Stewardship Coordinator leads key programs that protect, restore, and enhance Lake Oswego’s natural areas. This role provides professional support to the City’s natural resource initiatives by coordinating habitat enhancement and invasive species projects, supporting community stewardship partners, and advancing the City’s long-term ecological goals. The Parks & Recreation Department manages more than 650 acres of City-owned parks, open spaces, and natural areas, stewarding diverse landscapes that support recreation, habitat, and ecological health. The department collaborates with community partners, volunteers, and regional organizations to enhance and protect these natural assets.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years’ experience in natural resource field.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet the City’s driving standards.

Nice To Haves

  • May be required to obtain a Public Pesticide License.
  • May be required to obtain an Arborist Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop program objectives and prepare annual work plans and budgets.
  • Coordinate with City staff, partner agencies, and watershed councils on natural resource projects.
  • Administer contracts for habitat enhancement and invasive species management work.
  • Track and analyze natural resource data; prepare quarterly and annual reports.
  • Support the Parks, Recreation & Natural Resources Advisory Board through research and presentations.
  • Conduct research and prepare written reports on natural areas, stream corridors, wetlands, trees, and restoration needs.
  • Develop and maintain natural resource inventories and data management systems.
  • Develop and administer natural resource protection guidelines.
  • Coordinate and facilitate volunteer work parties with Friends Groups, stewardship partners, scouts, and community organizations.
  • Create communications, including social media content and stewardship webpage updates.
  • Represent the City at public meetings, outreach events, and community presentations.
  • Support the City’s Tree City USA and Bee City USA program administration.
