About The Position

The Steward is crucial for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and operational efficiency within our culinary department. This role ensures that all kitchenware, service ware, and culinary equipment are meticulously cleaned and sanitized, providing essential support to the culinary team to ensure a pristine and welcoming environment for our guests. Within our upscale lifestyle hotel, the Steward ensures the kitchen remains safe, organized, and fully equipped for service.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a steward or dishwashing role, preferably within an upscale lifestyle hotel or high-volume hospitality environment, is a plus.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Utah Food Handler Permit within 14 days of hire.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic communication skills to interact with team members.
  • Ability to stand, walk, pull, push, bend, stoop, and lift for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate necessary kitchen equipment and handle supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain commercial dishwashing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store all dishes, glassware, silver, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils according to brand standards.
  • Ensure the dish machine is operating at correct temperatures and chemical levels, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked station and storage area for all service ware.
  • Thoroughly clean and maintain all back-of-house areas, including floors, walls, stainless steel surfaces, and walk-in coolers.
  • Vacuum and mop kitchen floors, addressing spills and stains promptly to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Empty trash receptacles and replace liners throughout the culinary work area.
  • Support the culinary team with various tasks, including moving equipment and assisting with deep cleaning projects.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including federal OSHA and brand standards.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Utah Food Handler Permit as required by local law.
  • Handle chemicals and cleaning agents according to safety guidelines and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or unusual occurrences immediately using HotSos.
