Steward - Franke
About The Position
The Steward is responsible for setting up and breaking down the dish machine and dishwashing area and ensuring dishes, pots, pans, and service-related equipment are washed and sanitized efficiently and in accordance with health regulations. The role maintains cleanliness throughout the back of the house, supports food storage and delivery handling, and assists dining and kitchen staff as needed. The Steward also helps with special events and may train new employees. Work is performed in a healthcare setting and includes following facility policies, applicable laws, infection control guidelines, and HIPAA privacy requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to follow safety, dietary, and sanitary procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies weighing over 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to work various shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a food service or healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Set up and break down the dish machine and dish landing area.
- De-lime the dish machine according to proper procedures.
- Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, and small wares in accordance with health regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the back of the house, including tables, shelves, walls, floors, cooler areas, and loading dock areas.
- Dispose of food and waste according to sanitary procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of special events.
- Help store food after deliveries and ensure supplies are handled and organized properly.
- Assist servers during lunch service by bussing tables and promptly removing dishes.
- Remove and dispose of trash throughout the day.
- Follow dietary and sanitary procedures, facility policies, and state and federal laws.
- Follow infection control guidelines and HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.
- Attend meetings and complete in-services and mandatory training.
- Provide customer service and high-quality care with compassion and empathy toward residents and their families.
- Train new employees when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
