As a Steward, you will be responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment and utensils in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties according to hotel standards of procedure. Requirements

  • Are organized and proficient at multitasking.
  • Are a reliable team player willing to learn and adapt to new situations
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently and 25 pounds constantly.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English communication
  • Able to stand for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Operate commercial dishwashing equipment and wash dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware
  • Sanitize all kitchen equipment, work surfaces, and food preparation areas according to health department standards
  • Clean and maintain dishwashing machines, ensuring proper chemical levels and temperatures
  • Assist chefs and kitchen staff with food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables
  • Stock and organize kitchen supplies, ingredients, and equipment
  • Transport food items and supplies between storage areas, prep areas, and cooking stations
  • Empty trash receptacles and maintain waste disposal areas
  • Clean kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers, and refrigeration units
  • Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors throughout shifts
  • Maintain cleanliness of storage areas, walk-in coolers, and freezers
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors
  • Receive and properly store food deliveries according to food safety protocols
  • Rotate stock using first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify management of supply needs
  • Ensure proper labeling and dating of stored food items
  • Follow all food safety regulations and hotel health policies
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards required for food service
  • Complete required food safety training and certifications
  • Support other kitchen staff during peak service times
  • Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness between meal periods
