The Steward Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the flow of stewarding activity within the kitchen, dining area, and bars. This role involves hiring, training, and evaluating dish, pot, and cleaning staff, and coordinating the sanitary maintenance of the physical plant, service wares, and equipment. The supervisor is expected to develop, appraise, and coach personnel, orienting and training them in property and department policies and procedures. They will supervise, coordinate, and participate in activities to maintain sanitation and safety standards, fostering an open and welcoming atmosphere that promotes skill enhancement and holding crewmembers accountable for departmental standards. Additionally, the role requires maintaining inventory levels of china, glass, flatware, chemicals, and other supplies, estimating consumption, and ordering cleaning supplies. The supervisor will monitor trash removal, maintain clean and safe conditions around dumpsters and grease receptacles, and provide ideas for new products, services, and processes. They will also utilize staff for special event setup and breakdown, assist in implementing training programs for dishwashing, maintenance, sanitation, and safety, and stay up-to-date with chemicals and electrical equipment. Training subordinates on MSDS sheets, updates, and manuals is also a key responsibility. The Steward Supervisor oversees cleanliness, service, and productivity standards daily, coordinating training to achieve these standards, and ensures a safe work environment by complying with guidelines, identifying and addressing hazards, and reporting them to Risk Management. This position requires presence during high volume shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and performing other duties as assigned.
