About The Position

Saint Luke’s is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for its system float pool. The position rotates through various sterile processing stations and floats among the organization’s metro hospital locations in Lee’s Summit, Overland Park, North Kansas City, and the Plaza area. Schedules are written 8–10 weeks in advance and may be adjusted based on needs. The role offers opportunities to expand skills and learn new technologies and procedures in a fast-paced, supportive team environment, with ongoing learning and professional development.

Requirements

Less than 1 year of applicable experience.
Strong communication skills and confidence in one’s abilities.
Attention to detail and a process-driven approach.
Familiarity with AAMI, Joint Commission, and APIC standards related to infection control.
Willingness to adapt to new technology and procedures and learn new skills.
Commitment to following established processes and putting the patient first.

Responsibilities

Process, sterilize, and document the sterility of patient care supplies, instruments, and equipment used throughout the hospital in accordance with AORN Standards of Practice.
Prepare and assemble instrument sets and surgery trays using count sheets.
Verify the proper function and integrity of instruments.
Label instruments correctly and return them to their proper locations.
Execute instrumentation processes efficiently and with attention to quality, patient safety, and department efficiency.
Rotate through various stations to learn and perform all aspects of sterile processing.
Follow processes exactly and prioritize patient safety.
