Surgical Services - Sterile Processing Tech (SPT)
About The Position
The Surgical Services department is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) for work at OSU, a busy Level One trauma facility. The role covers all areas of sterile processing, including decontamination, instrument assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, sterile storage, and OR liaison duties. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with occasional scheduled holidays. The employee may be required to float to other locations. Candidates must have at least three years of experience in a facility similar to OSU and either a CBSPD or CRCST certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM).
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in a facility similar to OSU.
- CBSPD or CRCST certification through HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM).
- Experience across all areas of the sterile processing department, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection, scope work, sterile storage, OR liaison work, and CensiTrac tracking.
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate items, including drills, Da Vinci equipment, and scopes.
- Assemble instruments across all service lines, including trauma, loaners, and peel packaging.
- Perform sterilization processes using Sterrad and steam.
- Perform high-level disinfection and scope-related work.
- Manage sterile storage.
- Serve as an OR liaison.
- Use the CensiTrac tracking system.
- Float to other locations as required.
