About The Position

ChildRoots SE is seeking Step 4+ Break Support Teachers for their SE Portland location. This is a 1.0 FTE (5 days/40 hours per week) position. ChildRoots has been operating progressive, play-based schools since 2007, focusing on social and emotional development, exploration, and inquiry. The role involves providing care and teaching for multiple rooms of infants (0-23 months) and toddlers (24-35 months). This position is ideal for educators who value collaborative, child-led learning environments, have a strong understanding of child development and pedagogy, and are passionate about mentoring young learners.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Step 4 in the Oregon Registry
  • Currently enrolled in Oregon's Central Background Registry (or begin the process and complete it upon receiving confirmation)
  • Meet the teacher-qualification criteria as outlined by the Office of Child Care requirements
  • Previous experience in a structured child care environment.
  • Completion of college-level courses in early childhood education-related subjects.
  • Complete Oregon’s Safety Set Trainings and required certifications: Pediatric CPR/First Aid Course, Oregon Food Handler's Card, Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety, Recognizing & Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect, Prevention is Better than Treatment, Safe Sleep for Oregon's Infants.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) preferred.
