About The Position

The Steel Superintendent will oversee and manage all steel erection and fabrication activities for Primoris Energy Services projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution in accordance with project specifications and schedules.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural steel erection and fabrication, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex structural drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of steel construction methods, techniques, and best practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant safety regulations and codes (OSHA, AISC, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to travel to various project sites as required.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Crane and rigging certification is a plus.
  • Vocational training or associate's degree in construction management or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct all steel erection, structural steel installation, and related activities on designated construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards, including conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
  • Interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to plan and coordinate work sequences and material requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate steel crews, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing training and mentorship.
  • Oversee the quality control of all steel work, including welding, bolting, and alignment, ensuring adherence to design and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other superintendents to optimize project schedules, resource allocation, and problem-solving.
  • Identify and resolve potential issues or conflicts related to steel construction, ensuring minimal disruption to project progress.
  • Track and report daily progress, material usage, and labor hours.
  • Conduct equipment inspections and ensure proper maintenance and safe operation of all steel-related machinery.
  • Implement and enforce environmental protection measures on site.
