Operates and maintains basic Central Energy Plant machinery to attain maximum comfort levels and a stable supply of all utilities in all buildings connected to the plants, while maximizing efficiency and emergency readiness. Responsibilities

  • Ensures all plant machinery and systems are operating within design specs and takes appropriate action if not. Continuously monitors local indicators and building automation system to ensure proper operation of machinery and a stable supply of utilities.
  • Operates and maintains the HVAC, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, emergency electrical generation, medical gas, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Diagnoses equipment problems with the use of electrical/mechanical troubleshooting tools.
  • Responds quickly and effectively to alarms to minimize machinery damage and inconvenience to customers. Keeps accurate and detailed record of plant events.
  • Maintains knowledge of and practices all plant safety procedures. Understands the purpose and use of personal protection equipment.
  • Conducts basic inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on machinery in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Maintains and increases knowledge of machines/systems and their operating characteristics.
  • Possesses knowledge of emergency response procedures for all plant equipment/utilities, and demonstrates the ability to carry out procedures. Maintains emergency power system readiness at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
