Requirements
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Must understand Microsoft windows and Building Management System programs.
Responsibilities
- Operates the machinery that provides uninterrupted mechanical power and utility services to the medical center.
- Sets priorities and handles multiple projects or assignments and meets completion schedules within established objectives.
- Performs preventive maintenance.
- Uses various hand tools and testing instruments to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Reports appropriate corrections/repairs and makes referrals to the appropriate Operations Supervisor, Lead Craft Specialist, Hospitality Center or specialty shops.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Start up and shut down equipment as required.
- Monitors meters, gauges, and other instruments attached to equipment and makes adjustments whenever necessary.
- Watches and listens to the machinery and routinely checks safety devices.
- Tests boiler water, condenser water, and closed systems and chemically treats, as necessary, to prevent corrosion, scale, and biohazards.
- Repair equipment, ranging from complete overhauls to minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing defective valves, gaskets, or bearings.
- Cleans and paints equipment rooms and machinery.
- Responsible for equipment providing steam, chilled water, industrial and medical gases, water pressure, primary cooling, and incineration.
