About The Position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Stationary Engineer who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. As a Stationary Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining and controlling all plant equipment including boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, and all associated equipment. You will also maintain, service, and repair all boilers, chillers, generators, and associated equipment daily. This role involves coordinating outside contractor support as needed, or assisting in facilitating the completion of repairs and projects too large to be done in-house. You will obtain appropriate approval from leadership and properly document transactions. Completing assigned monthly PM work orders on time and documenting all work performed in the CMMS computer database is also a key responsibility. You will record data such as temperature, hours of operation, fuel consumption, temperature or pressure, water levels, voltage load, and generator balance. Additionally, you will record operation and maintenance actions taken during your shift in the operator’s logbook or through the electronic system(s).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in commercial or hospital central utility plant operations required
  • 1st Class Stationary Engineer License State of Maryland
  • Valid US Driver’s License Required
  • Strong knowledge of boiler safety and power distribution
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to prioritize and remain calm in demanding situations
  • Able to use hand and power tools
