About The Position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Stationary Engineer 2nd Class for our Operations Facilities Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Stationary Engineer 2nd Class, you will maintain and control all plant equipment to include air handlers, steam stations, emergency generators, fuel systems, and all associated equipment. You will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and servicing basic building assets, assets, doors, HVAC systems, Building Automation Systems, CMMS, plumbing, steam, vessels, air compressors, pumps, motors, fire protection, nurse call, and other building systems and services to all boilers, chillers, generators, and associated equipment daily. You will provide energy management system (EMS)/building automation system (BAS) oversight to ensure building maintains maximum comfort and maximum energy set points and setbacks. You will complete assigned monthly PM work orders on time and document all work performed in the CMMS computer database. You will diagnose and repair Direct Expansion (DX) HVAC equipment, ice machines, Commercial Air Handling Equipment (AHU), Variable Air Volume (VAV) for both variable volume and constant volume ventilation equipment. You will also research and select materials for HVAC systems installation, repair, and maintenance. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in commercial or hospital central utility plant operations
  • 2nd Class Stationary Engineer License State of Maryland or ability to take the exam within the first 12 months of employment
  • Valid US Driver’s License Required

Nice To Haves

  • 3rd Class Stationary Engineer License state of Maryland, strongly preferred

Responsibilities
