About The Position

This is a part-time Stationary Engineer position. The role involves operating and maintaining various hospital systems and equipment to ensure optimal patient care and a safe, professional environment. Key responsibilities include managing plant operations, responding to maintenance requests, and making emergency decisions during off-shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate with courses in power plant operation including electrical generation.
  • NYC license as Stationary Engineer.
  • NYC Refrigeration License.
  • NYC Certificate of Fitness A-35, P-98, S-12, S-13, S-95.
  • Five (5) years as boiler room Fireman, oiler, or other similar position, to obtain Stationary Engineer license.
  • One (1) year as Watch Engineer in High Pressure Boiler Plant.

  • CFC Universal Technician Certification.
  • DEC Operator B/C Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Prioritize customer service, treating patients, visitors, and co-workers professionally and courteously.
  • Effectively communicate about hospital services and ensure concerns reach the appropriate personnel.
  • Assign duties to personnel on shift and receive reports on plant operation deficiencies.
  • Respond to maintenance requests.
  • Operate and maintain engines, air compressors, generators, motors, pumps, air conditioning machines, electrical, plumbing, heating, and other related equipment and systems.
  • Operate and maintain sources of light, heat, and power.
  • Control operation of auxiliary boiler equipment such as water pumps and soot blowers.
  • Inspect machinery and make regular rounds to detect malfunctions.
  • Operate stationary diesel engines for emergency power supply.
  • Operate steam generating plants.
  • Keep records and perform preventive maintenance procedures in the plant.
  • Record details of equipment in service, noting temperatures, flow consumption, pressures, water levels, alarm conditions, etc.
  • Take general charge of plant operations on evening, night, and weekend shifts.
  • Make emergency decisions to deal with fire, water line breaks, etc., until supervision arrives.
  • Act as part of the Fire Brigade in emergencies.
  • Oversee building and plant operations pertaining to all equipment and utility services related to physical plant operations.
