About The Position

Responsible for managing and overseeing the External Communication Section within the Communications and Outreach Division. The role disseminates public information and develops multimedia communication campaigns to help achieve department priorities and advance favorable attitudes toward the department. It organizes and directs subordinate employees’ priorities and is directly responsible for public information and promotional activities in accordance with the MSP Brand Character, media relations, media training, speechwriting, social media communication, and digital platform content development. The position also serves as a member of the Director’s critical response team, handling sensitive public issues.

Requirements

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
• Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
• Pass a pre-employment screening, including a drug screen, criminal history background check, and fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police.
• Attach a cover letter or memo, resume, and official college transcripts if applicable. Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted.
