About The Position

The Starter/Course Advisor greets golfers at the first or tenth tee and at the practice facility, facilitating the start of play. The role supports pace of play, enforces course rules, assists golfers on the course and at the practice facility, and helps maintain course amenities and practice areas. Duties also include keeping non-playing traffic off the course, recording play accurately, marking the course, and periodically assisting with golf cart maintenance.

Requirements

Familiarity with the rules of golf.
Outgoing, friendly, and diplomatic personality.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions, from extreme heat to cold depending on the season.
Ability to stand for extended periods, at least two hours at a time.
Ability to regularly lift up to 40 pounds.
Conflict resolution experience.

Responsibilities

Greet golfers at the first or tenth tee and practice facility, facilitating the start of play.
Enforce golf course rules, such as cart path rules.
Ensure pace-of-play standards are maintained.
Provide golfers on-course services appropriate to the weather.
Keep non-playing traffic, including children and dogs, off the course.
Direct golfers regarding special circumstances recommended by golf maintenance.
Assist groups with raking bunkers, spotting golf balls, and other related services.
Help set up the practice facility before play begins.
Maintain amenity and sanitation standards for on-course water coolers.
Mark courses, including walking lengthy areas with varying slopes.
Periodically assist staff with golf cart maintenance, including changing tires.
Keep accurate records of play.
Maintain putting and chipping green areas.
Assist players with cleaning clubs at the practice facility.
Help maintain the practice facility by setting it up, stacking balls, and picking up balls.
