About The Position

The Barista sells and prepares Starbucks coffee beverages according to Starbucks standards, providing caring hospitality and exceptional customer service through product knowledge. The role involves preparing and presenting food and beverages, maintaining station and equipment standards, and delivering a strong customer experience. This is a seasonal position at Macy’s Northridge Fashion Center. Schedules include weekend shifts and are based on business needs and colleague availability. The position may require day, evening, weekend, and holiday availability.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret instructional documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods; reach, crouch, kneel, and stoop; frequently use computers and other technology, handheld equipment, and a cash register; process register transactions; and frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

1–2 years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate current working knowledge of drip coffee, cold beverage, espresso bar, and pastry stations.
Follow company standards and maintain the work area and equipment in accordance with Health Department standards.
Follow Starbucks Simple Service Steps and Magic Selling skills to provide an exceptional customer experience.
Educate, sample, and serve customers food and beverage products.
Follow station-specific duties and responsibilities.
Open and/or close the area using the appropriate checklist and verify completion with the Manager on Duty before leaving.
Maintain PAR stock levels and product presentation standards.
Prepare and present products according to Starbucks recipes while meeting speed-of-service standards.
Follow Starbucks merchandising and signing standards.
Maintain personal hygiene and professional dress in accordance with company, Starbucks, and Health Department standards.
Perform other duties as needed.
Foster acceptance and respect, strengthening relationships and authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
