As a Stakeholder & Public Outreach Coordinator, you will support public engagement, stakeholder communications, and community outreach efforts for infrastructure, transportation, environmental, and community development projects. You will collaborate with project managers, planners, engineers, and technical staff to help deliver meaningful engagement activities, coordinate stakeholder communications, and ensure communities remain informed throughout project planning and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Planning, Political Science, Public Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in stakeholder engagement, public outreach, communications, community relations, or a related field.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail with deliverables.
  • Experience planning and facilitating meetings and public events.
  • Comfort and strong ability to interface with the public.
  • Familiarity with Central New York and City of Syracuse area.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting platforms

Nice To Haves

  • experience with ArcGIS, CRM or public engagement software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain stakeholder databases, contact lists, and engagement plans.
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings, public meetings, workshops, and community outreach events.
  • Prepare fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, project updates, FAQs, and other outreach materials.
  • Document stakeholder feedback, meeting summaries, comment logs, and engagement reports.
  • Support project websites, social media, and digital engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate outreach activities into project schedules.
  • Utilize safe work practices in accordance with federal, state, local, and company standards.
  • Communicate incidents, accidents, near misses, potential hazards, and unsafe working conditions to a supervisor or the Health and Safety Department as soon as identified.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, state agencies, and customers to support clear, consistent communication between project teams and affected parties.
  • Create and implement standard communication plans for client projects to help meet objectives and deliverables without disruption or delay.
