The Methods and Tooling group defines maintenance, handling, lifting, and transport operations and designs the necessary tooling. This internship role supports the Supplier Quality Inspector team, contributing to functional, business, and company-wide objectives. The intern will develop processes, manage complex issues, and participate in long-term planning and strategy. Key involvement includes the ITO (Inquiry to Order) and OTR (Order to Remittance) processes, ensuring quality and technical aspects with suppliers and internally throughout project execution, and verifying the conformity of quality documentation. The role also assists in supplier and product qualification.

Requirements

  • Student in mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • Completed 2 sessions of coursework.
  • Completed coursework in blueprint reading, GD&T, and material properties.
  • Fluent in English and French.
  • Proficiency in office software (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Availability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Optional: Audit certification.
  • Optional: NDT certification.
  • Experience in the manufacturing process and inspection of critical welded structures.
  • Optional: Experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering.
  • Optional: Six Sigma training and certification or equivalent quality certification.
  • Knowledge of additional languages (Spanish, German, etc.) would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of quality systems - ISO 9000.
  • Familiarity with international standards (e.g., ASME/ISO/DIN, etc.).
  • Expertise in special processes (Machining, Painting, Welding) is an asset.
  • Behavioral and technical skills: Ethics and values, Customer focus, Conflict management, Teamwork, Communication and negotiation skills.
  • Supply chain experience.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and passion for quality.
  • Strong knowledge in interpreting engineering drawings/specifications, metrology, and evaluating manufacturing processes.
  • NDT certifications (PT, MT, VT).
  • Proactive approach and ownership of problems with a process orientation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in global and cross-functional team environments.
  • Highly motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the conformity of quality documentation for products manufactured by the supplier.
  • Participate in supplier inspections to ensure component quality meets design requirements.
  • Act as the interface between the supplier and other organizational functions such as Inspection, Shipping, and Engineering.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of suppliers, particularly those underperforming, based on audit results and issues.
  • Promote continuous improvement in supplier quality, cycle time, and delivery performance.
  • Support quality initiatives and cost reduction efforts in procurement.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving part quality.
