About The Position

Our stagehand position is an event-based position, not a job with regular weekly hours, you will only work when events are scheduled at the Chester Fritz Performing Arts Center. Stagehands assist with the setup, operation, and teardown of live performances and smaller events at the Chester Fritz Performing Arts Center. Working alongside experienced crew members, stagehands help ensure productions run safely and efficiently while gaining valuable experience in professional live entertainment. This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willing to ask questions and learn.
  • Able to follow directions, stay focused and work safely.
  • Patience-there maybe periods of time you'll be waiting for others to finish their job before you can complete yours.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as events require.
  • No experience necessary! If you can follow directions and work as part of a team, you can do this job.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with touring crews and Chester Fritz staff
  • Help load and unload trucks with show gear
  • Assist with the setup and teardown stage equipment
  • Set up the stage with chairs, risers and backdrops for smaller events
  • Work with lighting, audio, scenery, props, and other stage elements
  • Support production teams with backstage tasks during events
  • Work may include lifting, pushing, pulling, standing for extended periods, and working backstage in a fast-paced environment
