About The Position

Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services (VDM) is seeking a Performing Arts Teacher Assistant for their Non-Public School (NPS). The Music Teacher Assistant will assist the teacher in developing and carrying out Music curriculum and behavior modification for Special Education students. This role requires adherence to professionalism standards, including punctuality, a positive attitude, and effective communication with the teacher and staff. The assistant will also handle confidential information such as intake, psychological and educational reports, and IEPs.

Requirements

• Visual, physical, and technical ability to independently use a computer.
• Knowledge of cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and physical developments for children ages 5 to 22.
• Proof of passing the CBEST and/or a 30-Day Substitute Credential.
• CBEST/30-Day Substitute Credential Certificates, Licenses, Registrations.

Nice To Haves

• BA/BS Degree in Music/Music education preferred.
• Experience preferred, not mandatory with Special Education Students.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in developing and carrying out Music curriculum and behavior modification for Special Education students.
• Adhere to standards of professionalism, including arriving to work as scheduled (7:45am-3:45pm), clocking in/out, and checking in with the supervisor for daily briefing.
• Present a positive attitude toward work by demonstrating effort and initiative.
• Work effectively with the teacher and other school staff by maintaining effective communication regarding students and other work-related matters.
• Assist to maintain consistent behavior management programs and matters related to academic curriculum.
• Handle assembly and use of complete information of confidential nature, including intake information, psychological and educational reports, and IEPs.
