About The Position

The Stage/Audio Technician is responsible for operating or assisting in the setup and operation of the audio systems for incoming artist's audio crew and for other events (in house, corporate, etc.). This role also assists with the setup of live events including setting up risers, backline, microphones and staging audio wiring, ensuring that visiting tours receive excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Must have 5-10 years’ experience working in the live entertainment industry operating Digital and Analogue Audio Consoles.
  • Must have 5-10 years’ experience as an Audio Engineer mixing Stage Monitors and FOH Audio for a major production, touring performer or large venue.
  • To be knowledgeable with Wireless Audio systems and controller software.
  • Ability to act as one of the venue’s Stage Monitor Mix or FOH Audio Engineers for live events.
  • Knowledgeable awareness of networks, network switches, routers, access points as it pertains to Audio and RF Wireless systems.
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems
  • Ability to repair, maintain, set-up and operate various audio systems and have a full understanding of live event productions
  • Knowledge of new and emerging trends and technologies
  • Manage conflict and tactfully handle complaints and difficult situations
  • Organizational skills including the capacity to anticipate issues and prioritize tasks
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations and meet deadlines with minimum supervision
  • Must be neat, organized and very detail oriented
  • Must be able to set priorities, solve problems, multi-task, and analyze situations and apply practical solutions.
  • Must be able to obtain and effectively communicate accurate information
  • Must be flexible to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Must have experience operating a forklift, scissor lift & articulated lift (Zoom Boom).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive periodically to Barrie, Toronto

Responsibilities

  • Assists incoming artist crew with the setup and operation of the audio equipment on Stage or at Front of House.
  • Assists with the set-up of live events on stage including setting up risers, backline, microphones and audio cabling.
  • Operates the audio console on Stage or at Front of House, managing audio volume and sound quality at live events.
  • Directs and oversees the work of individuals supporting event preparation, including the stagehands supplied by an outside labour company.
  • Assists with training the stagehands with the tools to perform audio related tasks specific to the Entertainment Centre.
  • Assists the department in maintaining an accurate inventory of all equipment to ensure appropriate equipment is available to meet event requirements.
  • Maintains audio and visual equipment and ensures it is operating appropriately.
  • Cleans and stores equipment properly and assists in sending equipment for repairs as needed.
  • Researches and sources new technologies and parts for existing equipment
  • Perform all job duties in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Adhere to departmental quality standards.
  • Perform other related and compatible duties as assigned.
