About The Position

The Stage Technician is a technical position responsible for general knowledge of theatrical-related equipment, including production audio, lighting, staging, and rigging, with the ability to give work direction to part-time stagehands and technicians hired for events at the Grand Casino Arena, Saint Paul RiverCentre, and The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent certification preferred.
A minimum of six years’ experience as a production/stage technician in the industry.
Advanced skills in operating production equipment, including audio, lighting, video, and staging related to events.
Ability to operate both Mac and PC operating systems and presentation software.
A positive attitude and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, staff, vendors, and stage crews.
Willingness to assist with a variety of tasks and assume responsibilities.
Ability to train others in safe working procedures.
Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Experienced in working with and overseeing I.A.T.S.E. Local 13 stage crews preferred.
Knowledge of theatrical and arena rigging and rigging installation is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of safety rules is preferred.

Responsibilities

Support business goals and operations in technical production.
Set up and tear down production and related equipment.
Assist with the construction, maintenance and repair of equipment including lighting, audio visual, soft goods, sound systems, rigging, staging and other related equipment.
Furnishing labor and equipment rental information for billing purposes.
Assist with inventory and supply orders.
Coordinate event operations, working with other teams to drive success.
Monitor and operate technical equipment during production, rehearsals, and events.
Work with other teams in partnership with clients for shows and other activities on campus.
Set up and operate audio-visual-related equipment associated with meetings, seminars, and conferences in the convention center.
Lead event crews and coordinate labor with direction from the Senior Manager, Production.
Maintain membership in the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E) Local 13.
Demonstrate effective leadership, direction, and supervision of large groups of part-time I.A.T.S.E members during all stages of an event.
Create a culture of safety, monitoring staff for proper personal protective equipment, along with other initiatives.
Assist with new employees and rehire paperwork for payroll purposes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
