Staffing Coordinator - Nursing Adminastrion

Prime Healthcare•Chino, CA

About The Position

The Staffing Coordinator provides staffing and scheduling support for assigned departments at Chino Valley Medical Center. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and department leadership, the coordinator helps create and revise department schedules by matching departmental needs with available personnel and meeting schedule-posting deadlines under hospital policy or the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The role schedules staff in a productive and cost-effective manner using organizational staffing strategies and evaluates daily staffing needs, making adjustments to address time off, sick leave, leaves of absence, and other unexpected circumstances. The coordinator obtains staffing needs from assigned departments at regular intervals during the shift and rounds actively in units to make real-time changes, including flexing, floating, or filling staffing gaps. The role participates in hospital position-control meetings, works with C-suite leaders to review schedules and staffing reports, and forecasts staffing needs to help avoid emergencies. The coordinator supports the hospital’s review and approval process for supplemental agency personnel, reviews agency candidates promptly and submits qualified candidates to the CNO and department leadership for placement decisions, and updates candidate orders and compliance files in the Vendor Management System (VMS). In collaboration with Finance, the coordinator reconciles VMS invoices for agency hours and charges and works to establish a pattern of agency reduction.
