About The Position

The Staffing Coordinator provides staffing and scheduling support for assigned departments. In collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and department leadership, the coordinator supports the creation and revision of department schedules, matching departmental needs with available personnel and meeting schedule-posting deadlines under hospital policy or a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The role schedules staff productively and cost-effectively using organizational staffing strategies, evaluates and adjusts daily staffing, and coordinates replacements for paid time off, sick leave, leaves of absence, and other unexpected circumstances. The coordinator obtains staffing needs from assigned departments at regular intervals during the shift and rounds actively in units to adjust staffing in real time, including flexing, floating, or filling gaps. The role participates in hospital position-control meetings with C-Suite, reviews schedules and staffing reports, and forecasts staffing requirements to help avoid emergencies. The position also supports the hospital’s review and approval process for supplemental agency personnel requests. The coordinator promptly reviews contracted labor candidates, submits qualified candidates to the CNO and department leadership for placement decisions, updates agency candidate orders in the Vendor Management System (VMS), and ensures agency personnel have complete compliance files in the VMS.
