Wing•Palo Alto, CA
•$230,000 - $239,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Wing is seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to join its Technical Program Management team. This hybrid role is based in Palo Alto and leads critical zero-to-one pilot programs from early technical architecture through full-scale production launch. The role also owns stewardship of the engineering Product Development Process (PDP), driving adoption, operational rigor, and continuous improvement across engineering teams as the business scales.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of technical program management experience, with a record of operating at executive-level visibility in high-growth, technically complex environments.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in regulated, mission-critical, or hardware-software integrated product environments.
  • Ability to establish operational standards and drive compliance through partnership and trust rather than bureaucratic mandates.
  • Experience developing internal tooling, dashboards, and automated workflows to track governance and engineering velocity.
  • Demonstrated success leading mission-critical technical initiatives from prototype or pilot through commercial-scale production.
  • Proven experience designing, rolling out, and governing a formal Product Development Process (PDP) or Stage-Gate framework across multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical trade-offs as actionable insights for VP and C-suite stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end execution of strategic pilot initiatives, turning ambiguous early-stage concepts into validated, scalable production systems.
  • Partner with Engineering, Architecture, Product Management, QA, and Operations to define technical requirements, milestones, success metrics, and delivery roadmaps.
  • Identify, track, and reduce complex technical dependencies, architectural bottlenecks, and cross-functional blockers.
  • Own and champion the engineering Product Development Process (PDP).
  • Drive PDP compliance, alignment, and adoption across engineering teams to support consistent quality, traceability, and execution rigor.
  • Inspect, refine, and modernize the PDP lifecycle, including phase gates, design reviews, launch readiness, and post-mortems.
  • Define and track operational metrics such as cycle times, release velocity, and defect escape rates to assess PDP health and drive improvement.
