About The Position

Lucid is seeking a Staff Supplier Industrialization Engineer (SIE) that will be responsible for end‑to‑end industrialization of BIW Body Structure components across the global supplier base. This role provides technical leadership for manufacturing feasibility, GD&T and dimensional robustness, supplier readiness, and launch execution for midsize and high‑complexity vehicle programs. The role operates with a high level of autonomy and serves as a technical authority for BIW manufacturing processes, dimensional strategy, and supplier capability. The Staff SIE interfaces directly with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, Tooling, and supplier executive leadership to ensure designs are manufacturable, dimensionally robust, and capable of meeting quality and timing objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in supplier industrialization for automotive BIW body structures.
  • Deep expertise in metal stamping processes, including materials, die design, press capability, and common failure modes.
  • Proven experience performing GD&T and dimensional feasibility analysis for BIW components and welded assemblies.
  • Strong command of datum systems, tolerance stack‑ups, dimensional control strategies, and CMM‑based measurement systems.
  • Demonstrated success leading APQP activities and delivering PPAP‑approved production processes.
  • Expert knowledge of IATF 16949 quality systems and tools, including APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, DOE, and DFM/A.
  • Ability to operate with high autonomy, make independent technical decisions, and influence across organizational and supplier boundaries.
  • Strong technical communication skills, including comfort presenting to suppliers and internal executive leadership.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25–75%, domestically and internationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in engineering.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or ASQ certification.
  • Experience across multiple BIW manufacturing processes, including casting, extrusion, roll forming, and hot forming.
  • Working knowledge of JMP, Minitab, Tableau, Smartsheet, and JIRA.

Responsibilities

  • Own end‑to‑end supplier industrialization for BIW body structure components across a global supplier base, from early design through PPAP, SOP, and production ramp‑up.
  • Lead supplier readiness for midsize to high‑complexity vehicle programs, ensuring manufacturing processes meet quality, capability, and timing objectives.
  • Serve as the technical authority for BIW manufacturing feasibility, dimensional strategy, GD&T, and supplier capability.
  • Lead GD&T and dimensional feasibility assessments, influencing datum strategies, tolerance schemes, functional requirements, and measurement plans.
  • Identify and mitigate dimensional and manufacturing risks related to spring-back, material behavior, tooling capability, fixturing stability, and process variation.
  • Assess and influence manufacturability across BIW processes, including: Cold and hot stamping, Roll forming, Casting and extrusion & Welding and joining.
  • Drive DFM/DFA improvements and guide development of new manufacturing or tooling approaches when required.
  • Act as the primary technical interface to suppliers and tooling vendors, providing clear direction and holding suppliers accountable through data driven decision making.
  • Lead structured problem solving using 8D, Red‑X, Six Sigma, SPC, CMM data, and statistical analysis to deliver sustainable corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Tooling, Supplier Quality, Dimensional Engineering, and Plant teams to ensure launch success.
  • Support supplier nomination by assessing industrialization readiness and technical capability.
  • Track and drive supplier-owned engineering changes, deviations, and corrective actions.
  • Provide executive level reporting on supplier performance, KPIs, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Contribute to organizational capability by mentoring peers, leading functional initiatives as assigned, and capturing lessons learned across programs.
