About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and mentorship. The successful candidate will collaborate across teams to translate complex business needs into actionable solutions, promote engineering best practices, and continuously improve processes and products. This position requires strong technical judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable software aligned with business objectives. Immigration Sponsorship support will NOT be available for this position. The Data Ventures team drives Walmart’s data transformation by delivering scalable B2B data solutions that empower merchants and suppliers with actionable insights. The team excels in end-to-end software product development, focusing on collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous improvement. Members leverage expertise in software development, AI integration, and platform design to build reliable, efficient systems. Emphasizing innovation, accountability, and clear communication, the team works to meet business objectives and enhance user experiences. It supports ongoing learning and knowledge sharing across cross-functional groups to foster growth and technical advancement.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as a Full Stack Engineer: JavaScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, and C++.
• Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, code review, debugging, and documentation-based coding practices.
• Proven ability to deliver scoped features and models through iterative development and continuous integration.
• Skilled in integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance software solutions.
• Demonstrated capability in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable systems aligned with business objectives.
• Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and technical ownership.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
• OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
• Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining Walmart as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
