About The Position

Join Walmart as a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. This role involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and ensuring technical excellence through design reviews and mentorship. The Technical Vulnerability Assessment (TVA) team is a key part of Walmart’s Information Security organization, focused on analyzing critical security exposures within a complex technology environment. Serving as the enterprise’s central hub for vulnerability data and analytics, TVA collaborates with engineering, data science, platform, and product teams worldwide to deliver actionable insights and drive timely remediation. The team’s efforts enhance Walmart’s security posture at scale by streamlining workflows, leveraging AI, and developing software solutions that protect one of the largest global retailers. TVA’s work directly impacts the safety and resilience of Walmart’s technology landscape.

Requirements

Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns for secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
Demonstrated ability to lead platform engineering efforts, including infrastructure, tooling, and ML framework development.
Skilled in data-driven decision making and problem solving to optimize engineering processes and outcomes.
Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions to promote engineering excellence and sustainability.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
Lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility, quality, and alignment with architectural standards.
Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics.
Drive continuous improvement through prototyping, error correction, and knowledge sharing.
