About The Position

Coinbase is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for its Consumer Agentic Finance team, which is building a financial agent that monitors users’ money and markets, answers questions about portfolios, and trades on users’ behalf. As the frontend technical lead, you will set the direction for the interfaces that bring the agent to users across mobile and web. Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only, with quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.”

Requirements

At least 8 years of professional engineering experience shipping consumer-facing products at scale.
Expert-level mobile experience in React Native and native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin); experience across both platforms is a plus.
Proficiency in TypeScript and React.
Demonstrated technical leadership of frontend architecture across multiple product areas or a platform, including state management, API integration patterns, and performance work that measurably improved latency or reliability.
Experience guiding other engineers.
Experience building production systems with LLMs, such as agentic systems, tool calling, streaming responses, or conversational interfaces.
A track record of driving projects from zero to production with minimal oversight and owning product and technical decisions.

Nice To Haves

Backend experience, preferably with Go.
Familiarity with crypto, trading, or financial products.
Experience across both native iOS and Android platforms.
A focus on improving productivity and code quality by leveraging the latest AI-driven coding best practices.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end frontend experiences for the user's agent across mobile and web, including the conversational interface, trading ideas experience, and app entry points.
Build real-time, streaming interfaces for AI-driven advice, one-tap trade approvals, and autonomous execution that makes the agent's reasoning legible.
Set frontend architecture and technical direction across agentic surfaces, including streaming state, real-time market data, and conversational UX.
Raise engineering standards through design reviews, standards, and mentorship.
Shape agent behavior through prompt engineering, evaluations, and conversation analysis.
Partner with design, backend engineering, and the registered investment adviser to take features from concept to launch within regulatory guardrails.
