Staff Agentic Software Engineer

Bio-Rad Laboratories•Irvine, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

The Staff Agentic Software Engineer drives the design, implementation, and adoption of agentic and AI-assisted software engineering practices across multiple product teams and engineering domains. The role combines hands-on software development expertise with technical leadership to integrate AI throughout the software development lifecycle, improve productivity and software quality, and accelerate delivery through reusable tools, frameworks, and workflows. The engineer leads complex technical initiatives, establishes scalable engineering patterns, and guides teams in adopting effective agentic engineering practices. Working with architects, engineering leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders, the role translates successful approaches into practical, reusable capabilities that support Bio-Rad’s software engineering strategy. The position must be based in Irvine, California, within commuting distance of the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 10 or more years of software engineering experience, including experience applying AI-assisted or agentic software engineering practices.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools, agentic workflows, or related technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives, influencing engineering decisions across multiple teams, and turning prototypes into reusable engineering capabilities.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools, agentic workflows, and integration of AI capabilities across multiple software development lifecycle activities.
  • Strong full-stack development experience, including design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of production-quality applications.
  • Strong practical experience with .NET and Angular.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based software using AWS services and cloud-native engineering practices.
  • Ability to lead complex technical design decisions, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and develop scalable, maintainable, secure, and reusable software solutions.
  • Experience designing and implementing agentic workflows, tool integrations, context management, orchestration, human-in-the-loop controls, and use-case-appropriate evaluation mechanisms.
  • Proven ability to develop reusable libraries, engineering tools, automation, reference implementations, or frameworks that improve productivity and quality across teams.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, automated testing, CI/CD, secure development, maintainability, and reliability, including safeguards for AI-generated code and agent-driven actions.
  • Must be based in Irvine, California, within commuting distance of the office.
