About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle with a focus on cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to translate complex business needs into actionable solutions. Your expertise will support the advancement of Walmart’s technology infrastructure and developer productivity. Immigration Sponsorship support will NOT be available for this position. The team is focused on developing a platform to expand Walmart’s restaurant delivery capabilities, starting with the recent launch of Express delivery for Subway restaurants inside Walmart stores. This initiative aims to support multiple restaurant partners by building robust solutions for onboarding, integration, and order management. Team members apply cloud-native architecture and software design principles to deliver scalable, resilient, and efficient systems. Collaboration with product and business stakeholders ensures alignment with customer needs. The team emphasizes innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement to drive the success of this strategic platform.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in platform engineering, infrastructure tooling, and AI/ML integration using languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, and C++.
  • Ability to conduct system design reviews and apply software design patterns for secure, maintainable, and modular solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions to promote technical excellence.
  • Skilled in data-driven decision making, debugging, and problem solving to optimize engineering outcomes.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
