About The Position
The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position requires expertise in cloud-native architecture, API design, and AI/ML integration to build innovative, secure, and maintainable solutions. The role involves technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment with business goals and engineering excellence. The engineer will apply data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement practices to enhance productivity and deliver high-quality software solutions. The Walmart Fulfillment Services and Marketplace Engineering team focuses on building scalable, resilient solutions that drive business growth and operational efficiency. The team emphasizes architectural excellence, adopting modern technologies, AI capabilities, and engineering standards to enhance system reliability and productivity. Members collaborate across functions to solve complex problems in a high-scale, distributed environment. The team values continuous improvement through design reviews, innovation, and data-driven decision-making, fostering technical leadership and mentorship to maintain high-quality standards and deliver impactful software solutions aligned with business objectives.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
- Experience driving full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
- Ability to lead technical design reviews and apply sound technical judgment for sustainable architecture decisions.
- Skilled in DevOps engineering and remedial action to enhance platform reliability and developer productivity.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and data-driven decision making to optimize engineering outcomes.
- Commitment to mentoring and technical leadership fostering continuous learning and collaboration.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
- Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components for automation and multi-step reasoning.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate across teams to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements using data-driven practices.
- Continuously improve processes, tools, and products by embracing innovation and change agility.
