About The Position
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle from coding to deployment and maintenance. You will apply cloud-native architecture principles to enhance system resilience and agility while integrating AI/ML technologies to advance intelligent automation. This role requires strong technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment with strategic goals. You will champion engineering excellence through rigorous design reviews, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement to support business objectives and innovation. The team advances Walmart US Payroll systems through innovative design, enhancement, and maintenance. Collaborating across functions, members support payroll transformation to ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery for a large workforce. The group emphasizes scalable solutions, system performance optimization, and resolving complex challenges. Utilizing Agile methodology and SAP expertise, the team drives continuous improvement and operational excellence. It fosters a professional environment focused on business goals, leveraging technical skills such as API design, DevOps, and cloud-native architecture, while maintaining high standards in software development and project management to support Walmart’s mission.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and platform development to deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions.
- Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
- Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation using languages such as Python, JavaScript, and C++.
- Demonstrated skills in debugging, problem solving, and data-driven decision making to optimize engineering outcomes.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Commitment to engineering excellence through continuous improvement, innovation, and technical mentorship.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
