Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack (Frontend)
About The Position
As a Staff Software Engineer on Harvey’s Product Engineering team, you will own and lead engineering projects across the company’s product lines. You will work closely with AI, Legal, and go-to-market teams to build secure systems that deliver value to customers. The role is suited to engineers with experience building products across the stack for consumer and enterprise settings who are interested in developing application-layer and generative AI products. The work includes scaling document ingestion and processing, collecting legal information across jurisdictions, building government-level security, and delivering AI experiences across web, desktop, mobile, Google Docs, MS Word, and APIs. You will build AI-platform and AI-native capabilities, including agentic orchestration, tool calls, and retrieval systems. You will ship across the full stack using React and TypeScript on the frontend and Python and Postgres on the backend, creating intuitive user experiences and robust APIs for streaming results, long-running processes, and complex tool-calling workflows.
Requirements
- 10 or more years of experience after a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a product-focused full-stack software engineering role.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, CSS (Harvey uses TailwindCSS), and Python, or related technologies.
- Track record of building fast-growing SaaS products.
- Track record of shipping highly intuitive products and strong attention to detail.
- Experience building scalable and extensible solutions across the stack that support multiple product lines.
- Strong programming skills and general computer science knowledge.

- Design large-scale data collection across more than 50 legal jurisdictions.
- Build government-level security for governments and firms.
- Lead projects that bring AI experiences to web, desktop, mobile, Google Docs, MS Word, and APIs.
- Build AI-platform and AI-native features, including agentic orchestration layers, tool calls, and retrieval systems.
- Ship across the full stack, using React and TypeScript on the frontend and Python and Postgres on the backend.
- Architect intuitive user experiences and robust APIs for streaming results, long-running processes, and complex tool-calling workflows.
