Staff Site Reliability Engineer

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA

About The Position

The Staff Site Reliability Engineer will set the reliability architecture for CorpTech Platform's production environment and the systems supporting Anduril's business and manufacturing operations. The role owns infrastructure and mechanisms that make reliability a platform property, including how services are observed, deployments are made safe, incidents are managed, and reliability scales as the platform grows. It has broad organizational reach, influencing how CorpTech engineering teams build and operate systems, establishing production-readiness standards, and shaping infrastructure decisions across the service portfolio. The role combines deep systems expertise with independent judgment to prioritize reliability investments as the platform grows. It includes technical direction for SRE and infrastructure engineers, cross-team architecture facilitation, and representing reliability in platform planning and prioritization. It also develops reliability patterns for AI-enabled systems, including monitoring model behavior drift and degradation and providing graceful fallbacks. CorpTech Platform is Anduril's internal engineering force multiplier for corporate systems. It invests in data and software platforms, QA and release excellence, ERP engineering, and AI infrastructure. The team builds the foundations for CorpOS and ArsenalOS, and advances the Autonomous Software Factory by integrating AI into the software engineering lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, production engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a closely related discipline, including architecture- or platform-wide scope.
  • Experience designing and owning reliability infrastructure used by multiple engineering teams, such as observability platforms, deployment systems, or incident management tooling at meaningful scale.
  • Deep technical fluency in distributed systems, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), networking, storage, and layer-specific failure modes.
  • Proficiency in systems programming languages such as Go, Python, or Rust, or equivalent, for building production infrastructure, tooling, and automation.
  • Experience defining SRE standards, production-readiness frameworks, or operational maturity models and influencing adoption across engineering teams without formal authority.
  • Track record of leading incident response for complex, multi-system failures and turning post-incident findings into investments that prevent recurrence.
  • Ability to work independently through ambiguity, define reliability strategy without top-down direction, and sequence investments against competing demands.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior engineers, engineering leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • U.S. Person status is required because the position needs access to export-controlled data.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing or operating observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry at organizational scale, including instrumentation standards, data pipelines, retention, and cost management.
  • Experience building deployment and release-safety infrastructure, including canary systems, progressive delivery, feature flagging, and automated rollback.
  • Experience with reliability engineering for AI-enabled or ML-serving systems, including monitoring non-deterministic behavior, evaluation-driven alerts, and graceful degradation for model failures.
  • Familiarity with frontier AI tooling, AI coding assistants, and AI-enabled software development workflows.
  • Experience in hyper-growth startup-like environments and scaling reliability practices alongside rapid engineering growth.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems and business process domains such as ERP, MES, WMS, CRM, finance, or manufacturing systems.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Set reliability architecture for CorpTech Platform's production environment, including observability infrastructure, deployment systems, incident management, capacity planning, and failure-domain isolation.
  • Design and operate an observability platform covering metrics, distributed tracing, structured logging, alerting, and dashboarding.
  • Own deployment infrastructure and release-safety mechanisms, including progressive rollouts, canary analysis, automated rollback, and deployment gates.
  • Define and govern SLO frameworks that make reliability measurable and support trade-off decisions across SRE, product engineering, and leadership.
  • Identify systemic reliability risks and drive infrastructure or automation investments that eliminate failure classes.
  • Establish production-readiness standards and review processes for design and pre-launch.
  • Lead incident response for complex, multi-system failures and drive post-incident processes that produce systemic improvements.
  • Develop reliability patterns for AI-enabled systems, including monitoring for model behavior drift and output degradation, and graceful fallback for novel failure modes.
  • Provide technical direction to SRE and infrastructure engineers, facilitate cross-team architecture decisions, and represent reliability in platform-level planning and prioritization.
  • Drive capacity planning, cost optimization, and performance engineering for critical platform paths and shared infrastructure.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, available at little to no cost to employees.
