About The Position

ShiftKey is hiring a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to set technical direction for the infrastructure and core systems supporting its SaaS product, which customers rely on to run their operations. The role owns availability, stability, and scalability, and works closely with engineering leadership, architects, and operations. The engineer serves as a subject-matter expert across the multi-cloud environment, provides architectural guidance on enterprise infrastructure, evaluates technologies, and establishes operational practices for other teams. This is a fully remote position based in the United States. The role requires comfort working asynchronously and collaborating with teammates across time zones. ShiftKey is a healthcare technology company with a SaaS platform and a two-sided marketplace, both operating under strict regulatory requirements; this role focuses on the SaaS product.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience across DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or systems administration, including at least 3 years in a dedicated DevOps/SRE role.
  • Production experience operating managed Kubernetes on at least two major cloud providers, with an architecture-level understanding of differences between those platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience managing live production infrastructure through declarative infrastructure-as-code, including remote state management and reusable, modular design.
  • Hands-on experience with GitOps delivery tooling, metrics and dashboarding stacks, and automation in a scripting language.
  • A track record of defining technical roadmaps for multi-phase initiatives and executing major platform migrations or infrastructure rollouts.
  • Experience on on-call rotations, leading incident resolution, and applying cloud cost optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Automate complex infrastructure changes using code-driven provisioning and scripting to keep cloud environments scalable and resilient.
  • Provide architectural guidance across multiple major public cloud providers, enforce architectural boundaries and approval gates, and lead technical evaluations and proofs of concept.
  • Deploy, manage, and optimize production container orchestration clusters on managed cloud services, along with GitOps-style continuous delivery.
  • Own observability across system components, including metrics, dashboards, and proactive alerting; participate in company-wide incident response and the on-call rotation.
  • Develop, document, and routinely test disaster recovery plans and business continuity procedures.
  • Track cloud spend, establish anomaly detection, automate scaling, and propose architectural changes that reduce cost.
  • Guide cross-functional teams through complex implementation challenges and mentor engineers on infrastructure best practices.
  • Develop technical solutions and operational processes that make engineering teams more effective.

  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental coverage.
  • Benefits begin on the first day.
